Plan of Salvation
Have you ever wondered what happens after this life? The Bible offers a clear, simple path to peace with God and the promise of eternal life. God loves you deeply and desires a personal relationship with you. Here is how you can know, according to the King James Version of the Bible, that you have a secure home in heaven.
Step 1: Realize You Are a Sinner
Before we can understand our need for a Savior, we must recognize that every person falls short of God’s perfect, holy standard.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"
— Romans 3:23
"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:"
— Romans 3:10
Step 2: Understand Sin’s Penalty
Sin carries a consequence: spiritual separation from God. Just as a worker receives wages for their labor, the natural "wage" of our sin is eternal death.
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
— Romans 6:23
"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:"
— Hebrews 9:27
Step 3: Know That Jesus Paid the Price
God did not leave us without hope. Out of unconditional love, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to take our penalty upon Himself by dying on the cross, being buried, and rising again three days later.
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
— Romans 5:8
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
— John 3:16
Step 4: Accept Salvation as a Free Gift
You cannot work your way to heaven through good deeds, church attendance, or baptism. Eternal life is a gift that can only be received through faith in what Christ has already done for you.
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
— Ephesians 2:8–9
"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us..."
— Titus 3:5a
Step 5: Trust and Confess Christ Today
Receiving salvation requires a personal decision to turn from self-reliance, place your faith entirely in Jesus Christ, and call upon Him as your Savior.
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
— Romans 10:9
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
— Romans 10:13
